About Michael Garcia
Michael Garcia is currently a third year student at The Juilliard School. Michael has performed the works of Ohad Naharin, Hofesh Shechter, Paul Lightfoot/Sol Leon, Merce Cunningham and George Balanchine.
Originally from Portland, Oregon, Michael began his dance training at the age of 11, and attended Jefferson High School, where he toured internationally to China and France with the school’s dance company, The Jefferson Dancers. He continued his training at the School of Oregon Ballet Theatre where he studied under Kevin Irving and Anthony Jones, and performed with Oregon Ballet Theatre 2. At 17, Michael was invited to study at the School of American Ballet under Peter Martins and Kay Mazzo, and remained there through his senior year of high school. In the years ahead, Michael hopes to continue to expand his artistic capacity as a creator and dancer, and further immerse himself in the field.
